Loving the Pixel Dec 2
A few weeks ago Sco, Phillip and I flew up to Oklahoma City to hang out with the awesome folks at okcCoCo—who also have a great stamp worth grabbing—where we had been invited to talk a little bit about why and how we built Gowalla. Unfortunately Sco got sick at the last moment, and left me to fend for myself. For those who might be interested in this sort of thing, we’ve posted the video for kicks and grins. Thanks okcCoCo!

It was nice to hear about the backstory of what was to become the most awesome iPhone app evar!
Thanks for this glimpse into the back story of Gowalla..and many congratulations for creating a totally compelling app!
kicks and grins get!
This also puts some of Oklahoma City’s special trips in Gowalla into perspective.

Thanks for sharing. It was awesome hearing about how you all went from one product to the next. I’ve been with you all since IconBuffet, exchanging iconsets for shitsandgiggles. Spent countless hours stealing from those ratbastards on PackRat before I banned myself because I wasn’t getting any work done. Last month I finally joined Gowalla. You guys never fail to addict me to your latest drug. Looking forward to what you might accidentally whip up next!

Anyone else having issues playing this video? I’ve tried on ubuntu with firefox and chrome, and under windows 7 IE, firefox, and chrome. About 5 minutes in it starts pausing every 3-4 seconds, and it makes watching it very difficult (IE impossible). Also, the blip.tv player seems to have issues fast forwarding, rewinding, or dragging the position marker, same in all browsers/OS combos I’ve tried… I’d really love to hear the story though…

Having a hard time getting this video to play, after about 5 minutes it starts pausing every 3-5 seconds. Also blip.tv’s player seems to have issues fast forwarding/rewinding and moving the position marker. I’d suggest finding a better video hosting provider. This occurs in Ubuntu under Firefox and chrome, as well as under windows 7 using IE, firefox, or chrome.
Would have loved to listen to it all, but at about 6 minutes it starts breaking up pretty badly. Did that not happen for anyone else? It’s both on the embedded video and at the actual blip.tv site.
It was pretty interesting. Wish I could hear the rest!

Yeah, the blip.tv feed is totally messed up. =( It was very interesting for the few minutes I was able to watch. Hopefully it’ll get fixed soon.
